How many times have you put something on the hood of your car or even on top of your car and drove off, forgetting it was there? I firmly believe everyone who reads this has done it.
Now for the warning and it is more towards parents with children under the age of three. Car seats/ carriers are great and convenient. You can put your kid in this contraption and never have to take him or her out until you come back home. There is one problem with these types of seats and I witnessed it today.
A mom puts the carrier on the hood and then rounds up the rest of her younguns. In the midst of the chaos of getting everyone in the SUV and the listening to all the chattering and complaining young children do, she failed to realize that she was missing Junior. Junior is in the car seat/ carrier perched on the hood. He is around three and enjoying the view high up on the hood of the SUV. Mom jumps in the vehicle and takes off, suddenly Junior view is changing, and mom realizes that Junior is still on the hood. Instead of carefully applying the brakes, she hits them and Junior is flying off the hood and into the intersection.
This is how I know she is an okay mom but very forgetful. In a split millisecond this woman is out of the car, Junior has unfastened himself, is running towards her with his arms wide open and she swoops in, and grabs him. It happened so fast it was a blur. Then she throws the car seat/ carrier into the SUV and takes off. Don’t worry she pulled over when it was safe.
Do not put your child on the top of the car or the hood. This time Junior was fine but it could have been a lot worse.

Today mom and I went to Crown Hill Cemetery. It is the fourth largest cemetery in the United States. Buried at Crown Hill are one U.S. President, three Vice Presidents, and four unsuccessful VP candidates. Actors, actress, writers, singers, and more important, people’s parents, siblings, and other family members are buried here. It was a beautiful place. Even Dillinger is buried at Crown Hill. I did not look for the notables; I was more drawn to the statues and epitaphs. We are planning to return this week and I am going to do a little searching. James Baskett, Uncle Remus in Disney’s Song of the South is one I would like to find as well as Dillinger’s gravestone.
Today we just wandered and I took many pictures. So many that I don’t know which ones to post. As soon as I figure it out I will have pictures in my next entry.
