And It Was Good

Today was Lulu's day out.  Mom and I decided to take a picnic lunch to Catalina State Park.  We found a deserted picnic area and turned Lulu loose.  All she wants to do for the first 15 minutes is run.  She ran down the side walk - back and forth, forth and back, back and forth.  Then she ran in the grass.  The only way to describe her when she is in full run is "joyful."  It is bliss in it's rawest form.

After lunch I put her on her leash and took her on a hike.  In the picnic area she stays close and it is a fairly wide open area.  On a hike she needs to be on a leash because she becomes prey.  Lulu is okay with being put on a leash as long as she gets to run first.  It was a fairly normal day.

I decided to take the trail to the two creeks.  When we arrived at the first creek, mom found a rock with her name on it and sat.  I picked up Lulu and went on.  Lulu hates water.  She won't even drink from a creek.  When I carry her across she either wiggles or starts dog paddling.   There is one thing that Lulu hates more than water......

She hates it when mom and I separate.  She wants us together 24 7.   When one of us leaves she panics.

I had to carry her across the two creeks but once we were through with that she seemed to be okay.  We hiked and she barked and life was good.  When we came back to the first creek I had to pick her up and carry her across.  When we got to the second creek, she saw mom, and her joy at seeing her was so great that she started pulling.  Since there was no one around I let go of the leash.  I just wanted to see what she will do when she got to the creek.  You will not believe it but she swam the creek to get to mom.

Mom grabbed a stick and the rest is amazing.

Needless to say - she had a blast!

House Update And Other Things

The house has been "stuccoed." It is now grey in color on one side and pink on the other. We haven't decided on the color. We gave the paint book to Scott and we haven't heard what his opinion is. We are probably going to try to match the color the house already is so the expense won't be so much.
We needed a handy man for odd jobs around the house. We compiled a list of jobs and started calling. What we heard was "that's a remodeling job, I don't remodel." So, securing an island in the kitchen requires calling a company that remodels kitchen. Putting up shelves in the bathroom requires a company that remodels bathroom. There is also companies that remodels closets too......  What happened to the common handyman?

Since purchasing the house, Scott has become an instant handyman with no idea of what he is doing and fortunately he is quick. Thanks to him he has ice in the freezer, the framework on one side of the house is done, the lights outside have been extended and hung. I am sure there are other things he has figured out how to do and done.

Yes, there has been good things that has happened and I keep that in mind when I get upset. One of the good things have been the landscaping people. After receiving the threat from my neighbor about my brush pile, I had to resort to finding a brush hauling person on the internet. To me that was scary but I was desperate. Along came Jason, his company hauled off the three brush piles I requested and then hauled off a couple more without charge. Before they left one of the crew member told me "your road sucks."

Well I called back two weeks later and they fixed my road, put up a gate, hauled off another brush pile, fixed the irrigation system....... and before they left one of the crew members said, "You really need to paint the outside of your house."   I will probably call them for a bid.  It is interesting to me, that in hard times when jobs are scarce and money is tight the only people that want to work is the landscaping people.

Yes, I have been crabby lately. Crabby enough to send Lulu running to her house with one look and I am sure that mom would like to join her. I don't want to blog, I don't want to go for a walk, and I sure as hell don't want to deal with people. Like Greta Garbo I just want to be left alone.  I have given up the smokes.  I had to go cold turkey because the medicine is expensive and it made me ill.

Wish me luck.

Renaissance Faire

Someone dressed up as a tree.

Yes Kids It Is The Burger Fairy and he says if you leave a little burger under your pillow tonight he will leave you some money!

This man swallows swords,

Sticks a drill bit up his nose AND

Swallows ballons.  The only animal he makes it a "Shi Tzu."

I want this on my roof.

Hannah this is the man that can show you how to use a bull whip.

Enough of the whip man.  Lets move on to the birds.

I saw the Medieval Babes.  They are fantastic.

I paid this man $5 to insult my son..... I can't repeat what he said but his parting shot was "I hope you find underwear that fits you."

4 Days

The question is what have I been up to these past 4 days?

Lots of errands, to much TV, and not enough sleep.

I am still eating to many pickles and have graduated to prunes.  I don't understand my cravings.  I am convinced that my body is demanding something it needs but why pickles and prunes?

If I had a child I could fill this blog with cute kids stories but all I have is an onery dog.  An onery dog with a built in braking system.  This morning I needed to empty the tanks and Lulu doesn't like to be any where near that.   I got up and  I went through my normal routine -  brush my hair, put on coffee, turn on the computer, and turn Lulu loose.

Did I say she is also patient?

Instead of letting her go outside on her own, I picked her up and carried her out.  I took her straight to the hook ups and open the black tank.  Then I carried her to front of the RV, where she immediately did her business and then she wanted back in.  I had to close the black and open the grey water tank and when I tried to walk back there she put "four on the floor" and hunkered down.   Of course our neighbor laughed.  We always get caught.

This weekend I have plans from Renaissance to Indian and will be posting pictures.

For JRW.  As a child I wanted to be my sister, as a teenager I didn't want to be me, as a young adult I wanted someone to love and somewhere in all that avoidance I never did get a chance to know me.  It wasn't until I was in my thirties that I took the time to discover who I was and then embracing it.  Discovering who you are will affect how happy you feel - when you love yourself you will not be concerned about what others think of you, whether they like you or not.  You stop basing your happiness on the actions of others.  You will not need another person to complete you and that is freedom.  If by chance you should find someone after this self discovery, then you will know what love is.

Brrr

Under normal conditions Lulu will greet anything new by running into her little house.  Yesterday it was cold for a bald dog and so I put her coat on.  I figured that was good for a 12-hour pout in the house.  To my surprise she darted in her house and then prompty came out.  She didn't gnaw on her little jacket but seemed to really enjoy it.  I tried to take it off of her when it was time to go to bed and she wasn't happy about it.  The first thing mom did this morning was put it back on her and was met with no resistance.  Sometimes I just can't figure her out.

Tumacacori (Too-ma-CA-co-ree)

San Cayetano del Tumacácori Mission was established in 1691 by Father Eusebio Francisco Kino. It was established one day before the Guevavi Mission, making it the oldest Jesuit mission site in southern Arizona.

After the Pima rebellion of 1751, the mission was moved to the present site on the west side of the Santa Cruz river and renamed San José de Tumacácori. By 1848, the mission was abandoned and began falling into severe disrepair. Preservation and stabilization efforts began in 1908 when the area was declared a National Monument by President Theodore Roosevelt and continue today.

What Dogs See
