We stopped at the Baxter Springs Heritage Center Museum in Baxter Springs and spent an enormous amount of time there. There was so much to see and read about the history of Baxter Springs and beyond. Folks in Baxter Springs do not throw anything away they just donate it to the museum and for that we are extremely grateful. You see there is someone that wants to see great-great Aunt Mabel’s wedding gown. I am not ashamed I will admit it. The museum was filled with children from a neighboring school and it was fun to watch them interact with the volunteers there. The volunteers were taking them on rides in the old time fire truck, telling them stories of old and show them how the pioneers did their daily chores. We were lucky to be in the museum at that time but truthfully I am too old and grouchy to have children around me for a large amount of time.
Afterward we stopped at a park outside of Baxter Springs and did a little walking and a lot of picture taking. Of course we had to stop by the cemetery.
