I was asked who are you and I am going to try to introduce myself.
I am not who you think I am. Professionally I am quite good around people and very friendly. I have won awards and accolades. Professionally I am the one you want to hire. Yet when I got in my car and drove home from work I became the person I have always been – quiet and unbelievably uncomfortable around people. I am getting better, I am coming out of my shell. Ever since I bought the van I have been approached more and more. I have had other van dwellers do a u-turn to visit. At first it was a little disconcerting. Now I am getting use to being approached. I am also a little leery about disclosing my exact location for fear that someone I don’t want to meet will knock on my door. Vans are few and far between. In the 4 1/2 years on the road I have had to take out my bat only twice. I am a fierce protector and I have been taught to strike and strike hard because I just don’t want someone taking my bat away and using it on me. So you could say I am a little shy about revealing where I am because I don’t want to be found. I do realize that I need to let people know where I am and I will do so in a vague sort of way, just check my labels.
Who is my ma? She is probably the most awesome person I have ever met. She is a lot like me. Quiet, a little uncomfortable around people but she is coming out of her shell.
This I do know…. whenever I make plans, plans change. This is what I like about my life. I had the last three months all figured out then Mom and I started talking about a certain cemetery in Louisiana that we missed due to bad weather and how much we would like to see it. This morning we decided to scrap all plans and head to Louisiana. We won’t drive straight there, we will just meander…. Meandering is good. You see more, do more, and take too many pictures.
Today we left Blanco State Park in Blanco Texas and we are staying 19 miles away. Boy are we tired, it was such a long drive. Seriously, we found a lot to do and the next thing I knew it was 5 o clock and it was time to find a place to sleep. I picked up some Bison Jerky and an orange soda pop and called it day.
We will probably stay in this area for the weekend and Monday we will head out…. We are going hippo hunting in Texas.
Expect Pictures tomorrow.

I would never have met you if not for Surely... ;-)
I completely understand though. I was the same professional and yet have always been innately shy. The corporate world taught me how to mingle and mix. But it's not my favorite thing to do.
I am most comfortable with a few friends, not at all in a large group where I know very few.
That's the tough thing about RVing and blogging...people seem to find me. LOL!
@ Donna: I didn't know you were "one of us"! Small world, isn't it?
Pepper, I'm glad you have come to the blogging world. I appreciate your need for privacy, but I've enjoyed your travels through your words. Do what you must for your own peace of mind, but keep blogging!
I don't blame you a bit for being cautious! There are just people out there we don't need to meet for very good reasons and they are often not so obvious at first. Heidi and I have met a lot of vandwellers now over the years, have enjoyed most every one of them, but most were pretty well known to us first via the net. Cool that you are embracing the flexible side of this lifestyle so much! That is my favorite thing about it :)
