We pulled into the park today around 4:00 p.m. Upon arrival we given the usual brochures which we declined. We explained we were here to see the cemeteries. We were told how to park the van and where to park the van. I was told that my van could be completely stripped in less than 10 minutes both inside and out. Mom and I reached a decision to rent a car for a day. Which is probably a good thing after looking at a map and seeing how difficult it will be to get to the cemetery.
On our way to New Orleans we stopped at False River Louisiana to eat and to look around. It is a nice little town with some historical buildings that sat along a lake. I was more interested in the name “False River.” The lake is an ox bow lake, meaning it is shaped like an ox bow. This lake was once the main channel of the Mississippi River in this area. It was cut off from the "mighty Mississippi" in about 1722 when seasonal flooding cut a shorter channel to the east. That is how False River got his name.
Life is good.

We've seen one of those "false rivers" before, but couldn't tell you where or when at this point. Keep travelin' ladies, and protect that van!
Interesting facts on how the river got it's name.
