Where We Have Been

We made it home without a problem. While in Jackson, we went Chester and Metropolis IL. Yes, I saw Superman and Popeye. Woo Hoo. We also explore Cape Girardeau Missouri. Mom and I walked along the Cape Girardeau Mural wall, which was 1200 feet long. That was interesting. I took a few pictures of the murals but didn’t photograph them all because there was so many of them.

We crossed the river and explored Chester IL but that town is so confusing we didn’t stay long. Right after Chester IL, we went to Fort Kaskaskia State Park.

When the residents of Kaskaskia learned their town was doomed, they moved the graves to this area. The reason the town was doomed was the Mississippi changed course and eventually the city was swallowed by the river and the only remnants of it is on a small island. Kaskaskia was also called “the lost capitol of Illinois.”

I could have stayed all day exploring the headstones and the remnants of the fort.

Aunt Betsy called and she wants to see us before we take off in two weeks. It will be nice to see her again.
