Good Grief

Blogger is not sending me emails letting me know someone has commented.

Jolie - I am related to the Triggs and Garners. I have been working on the family tree for quite a while. It is an interesting hobby to say the least.

I am writing a book on my family and wanted to name it after a person who is related to me, directly, on my father's side. In the 16th century in Massachusetts, a gentleman, William Potter, lived. He was very involved in his community. He was a fine upstanding man in his town. Then one day, his wife went out to the barn, perhaps she was going to gather eggs, I don't really don't know. What she discovered was her husband getting a little to friendly with the farm animals... if you know what I mean.

She did what any respectable woman would do; she turned him over to the authorities. There was a huge trail and he was eventually found guilty of “getting frisky with the farm animals.” They hung him, the horse he rode in on, and all of the animals on his farm.

I kid you not.

I wanted to name the book “And The Horse He Rode On” but I will refrain.

My father’s side of the family was the most difficult to trace back. His family was Mormon. Many, many wives to sort through and it was easy until I came upon William Alma. William married two sisters, Violet Ellen and Ellen Violet and they had two sons, named William Alma and Alma William. I tell you what that threw me for a loop because the two sisters were close in age and the two sons of the two sisters were born months apart…. I was having a heck of time figuring these people out. Which one is ggg grandma and which one is gg grandpa, then song “I Am My Own Grandpa” got stuck in my head. It was a mess.

Oh the stories I could tell on my ancestors.
