Just General Stuff

We are still spending time with the Kansas City kids. We will be back on the road on Tuesday.

Mom and I will be parking the RV in Illinois for maintenance and repairs. While the little house on wheels is being maintained, mom and I will be doing a road trip to Washington to see my son, Rusty aka James. He promised us that he would take two days off to visit. Poor fellow worked through the month of April without anytime off. He needs a couple of days.

We finally decided the direction we will be heading when we return to pick up the RV and that will be north. We will be heading for Maine. I contacted my insurance company and I can see any doctor I want to. We will not have to return to Misery (Missouri) in October. The catch is trying to figure out where we will be when our yearly exam is due. Mom wants to see the leaves turn and this is the place to go.

I would like to see Garfield Indiana. I don’t think it is a town anymore, just a little spot on the road. It was in this town that my grandmother on my father’s side was born. She was less than a year old when he smuggled half of the family on a train, the rest of the family paid their way, and the family homesteaded in Montana.

Tentatively that is our plans.

Tomorrow Hannah will be coming by and joining us as we explore the cemeteries in Richmond MO. We have relatives buried there and we are going to see if we can’t find them.

Sunday will be housecleaning day and I will be washing the RV. It is a nuisance to wash the rig because I am so short and I end up wetter than the RV. I have to use a ladder, long handled brushes, and I have to climb up on the roof. Last week we spent the day reorganizing the house. I put in a shelf in a small closet to accommodate towels and a travel size ironing board. I broke down and bought the vacuum bags and it works great. All of our winter clothes are now sucked down to pancake size. I had so much room after I was done. Of course, space is precious in our home so we love having an empty cabinet.

Expect pictures tomorrow.
